The firm

Trethowans, one of The Times Best Law Firms 2023, and one of the 100 Great Places to Work 2023, was named as one of the UK’s fastest growing independent law firms (The Lawyer) and offers a comprehensive range of services for businesses and individual clients. It has more than 250 members of staff, including over 80 lawyers and 45 partners, who act for many international and national household brand names (including Jewson, Ladbrokes, Pizza Hut and Nandos to name a few) and a variety of individual clients throughout the UK. Trethowans now operates out of six locations, with offices in Salisbury, Southampton, Poole, Bournemouth and Winchester as well as a serviced office in London.

The role

We are looking for a 4-7 PQE solicitor to join our growing Restructuring and Insolvency team based out of our Southampton or Bournemouth office.

The team has focussed expertise in all areas of restructuring and insolvency and acts mainly for insolvency practitioners (including from strategy planning phase) as well as banks, other creditors and stakeholders who might be impacted by financial distress.  The team is recognised for its work in Chambers & Partners and Legal 500.

The ideal candidate will have had some dedicated non-contentious restructuring and insolvency experience post-qualification, ideally at either a city or leading regional practice. Prior experience working in corporate and commercial teams within a law firm would be preferable.

Candidates should be willing to work at times on time-sensitive assignments and must be commercially focused, agile and pragmatic in their approach.  The ability to work as part of a team and deliver excellent client service is also essential.

This role offers a great opportunity for immediate exposure to high quality work directly supporting a Partner focussed on growing the practice, and the ability to fulfil career aspirations at a progressive law firm.

Equal opportunities

Trethowans is committed to providing equal opportunities in employment. This means that everyone who either applies to or works for the Firm is treated equally, whatever their gender, age, ethnic origin, nationality, marital status, disability, sexual orientation or religious beliefs.
